How I use AI
Where AI helped, where it didn't, and how that affects the stamps.
I use AI the same way you’d use the reference section at the back of a textbook, as in, I rarely ever get through the resources it recommends me. But a girl can try. I pay attention, too much at times, and ask questions, too many usually. But jokes aside, before I tell you what I use AI for, as it’s easier to talk in negation, to figure out what you really want and will use it for (I believe this is my first time making this distinction in writing), so tighten your seat belts, and get ready for the pile of records that is this website!
What I don’t use it for :
- I don’t use AI for my thinking, although I like to present my ideas to both the people in my life and the LLM I am testing that week
- I don’t use AI to write, because writing is a craft I have loved since 6th standard. Here’s a poem that I wrote then that got published in The Times of India, so you can imagine my love and dedication to the craft. I, however, am not against the use of AI for writing, but I am against the misattribution of credit when people tend to write with it.
- I don’t use AI for therapy or life decisions. These are things I don’t even trust myself with, let alone a next word predictor.
- I don’t use AI to write code when I’m learning.
- I don’t use AI for math proofs, or even when I’m stuck. Or to do math actually. Tech companies can keep releasing proofs or whatever pleases the board that week, but you can always find me sitting in a garden with a paper and pencil solving problems I have no business engaging with.
- I don’t like to use AI for feedback on my work. I do sometimes run a few pieces through it but I prefer to bother real people for this. Not only does it build relationships, it also gives you a completely different perspective, often with a direction you have never considered.
- I don’t use AI for actual research, to be precise, I could, but for now, I choose not to. Although I do discuss my ideas and approaches with it.
What I do use AI for :
- I do use AI to dig through the seemingly infinite resources present on the internet and present me with the ones that suit my needs.
- I do use AI for planning my days because I have severe executive dysfunction.
- I do use AI to write code for visualizations you will find in my essays. I also use AI for design because a real hire right now does not make sense for me.
- I use AI for writing code that’s repetitive, doesn’t teach me anything or isn’t something I would be bothered to learn (like web development, and yes, this website IS indeed made with Claude Code (the direction was mine tho lol :/)).
- I use AI for typos and grammar, because I type like a freak who’s on fire. Please do not let my command over the language convince you that I am above making the most silliest of mistakes here.
- I do not use or count AI review towards my reviewed rating (E3) on pieces. It is always an external qualified person that verifies it. More on this at House Rules in How I rate my work
